Race
Starting Time 2008
Changing to Saturday racing was not supported because of a possible
clash with Sailability and frequency interference with the ECSA.
Some of the club’s members sail elsewhere on Saturdays.
During EST racing will start at 1200 so it’s completed before the
evening chill sets in.
During EDST racing will start at 1300, however we will trial
starting at 1400 in February. If the majority prefer the 1400 start
we will change.
3.
Number of Races
There
will be 10 Point Score races and 10 Club Championship races per
round. The sailing instructions will be amended
4.
Methodology for determining Club Champion and Point Score Champion
In
future the Champion will be the skipper with the lowest score when
the points from Series 1 and Series 2 are added together. The
Sailing Instructions will be amended.
5.
Race
format on Open Days
The
Open Day format will remain unchanged.
Brad
suggested we add a Team Racing day and a Sprint Racing day to the
program. These events will add some variety, will be fun and help
the newer members develop their skills. Brad will provide more
information.
6.
Update of Sailing Instructions.
a.
Handicap
As a
guide;
If
there are less than 10 entries to a round, the last finishing boat
in a race will have a reduced handicap in the next race.
If
there are 10 to 15 entries in a round, the last 2 finishing boats in
a race will have a reduced handicap in the next race.
If
there are more than 15 entries to a round, the last 3 finishing
boats in a race will have a reduced handicap in the next race.
If a
boat has a DNS or DNF then their handicap remains the same.
The
Sailing Instructions will be amended.
b.
2 Fleet Racing
Brad
suggested instead of going to 2 fleets when there are more than 16
entries in a round of the Club Championship we adopt a system used
in the UK where skippers are rostered to be “race officials”.
Skippers rotated out of a race will act as Observers, start the
race and record results. Brad will supply more information on how
the roster works.
The
meeting decided racing may be extended up to an hour by consensus in
order to complete racing.
7.
Election of Officers
Owen
Jarvis was re-elected unopposed as Secretary.
John
Haines will allocate frequencies and keep the frequency database up
to date.
Owen
asked that all skippers help each race day with the club duties and
help out when the club is hosting a regatta.
Brad, Keith and Owen will run the Club Championship.
Jim
and Allen will run the Point Score.
8.
General Business
Jim
asked about the possibility of mid week sailing. Owen will discuss
with the KBSC committee, and see if we can get an extra set of keys
for use by the midweek sailors.
Race
fees will be increased from $2.00 to $4.00 for all club race days.
There will be no charge for open days.
This
is the first race fee increase since the club started in 2001.
Should there be a need to purchase a new motor before the club has
sufficient funds then the shortfall in money will be raised by a
levy of members. At the time of the meeting the club had funds of
$481.80 in the bank.
Gary
put forward the idea of having two new trophies, one for the
combination of Point Score and Club Championship, and one for Rooky
of the Year. The meeting decided not to have these additional
trophies at this time.
The
meeting agreed to send flowers to Susan who is ill in hospital.
9. Medals were presented to the placegetters of Series 2
of the Point Score and Club Championship. John Haines was
recognised for being most consistent in the Point Score.
The
Meeting Closed at Approximately 1.30 |
