Kogarah Bay Sailing Club

Set Sail at Kogarah Bay Sailing Club Sailing School

The Kogarah Bay Sailing Club is pleased to announce for the 2008 / 2009 the sailing school program. The club is offering a eight week courses for the season commencing 25 October 2008. Places are limited to 8 places for this course. All courses are supervised by an credited Yachting Australia sailing master.

The student learns how a sailing boat is set up and works.

Parts of a boat, how to leave and return to shore. Capsize drill, How to tow, reaching.

The student learns the basics of handling a boat on the water.

08/11/2008

How to tell wind direction, points of sailing, beating, tacking and effects of sails.

The student learns what to do when the boat capsize and boat recovery, they will get wet.

Wind waves and water.

First essential skills about wind.

22/11/2008

Tacking, gibing, knots and knots.

Learn the knack of steering a boat.

Revision.

Developing more sailing skills.

Rules, man over board.

Understand the rules of sailing.

Safety, wind tide currents and weather.

Student will be tested on sailing skills.

 

How much does it Cost...

$85.00 This includes junior membership at Kogarah Bay Sailing Club and all equipment and materials for the course.

When...

The level one Eight week course commences 25 October 2008 Lessons start at 10.00 am and finish at 12.00am

Where...

Kogarah Bay Sailing Club, Dover Park East Prince Hwy Blakehurst

Who should attend...

Anyone of school age who enjoys the water and a parent or guardian can attend each lesson with the student to help set up and pack away equipment and boats. Each student must wear a life jacket, enclosed footwear, hat and sun screen while on the water.

KBSC will Provide...

The Kogarah Bay Sailing Club will provided dinghies and life jackets for the sailing school students to use.

What to Bring...

bring Students will need enclosed footwear, hat and sun screen a change of clothes and towel for when you get wet. The club does have showers.

What to Do...

Complete the enrolment form and send to the club as soon as possible as places are very limited.
